![]() You wouldn’t need to use any of your tuition tax credits, because the federal basic personal amount exemption, which is $11,474 this year, already offsets all your income, said Gabrielle Loren, a Vancouver-based CPA. You can pass on $5,000 worth of credits to your spouse, parents or grandparents and carry forward the remaining $1,000 for use against your taxes in the future, added Loren. Because tuition tax credits are non-refundable, they don’t expire until they’re used. So in a scenario where mom and dad and grandma and grandpa are doing just fine financially, you could instead hoard all of the tax credits and use them after you graduate. That can be a nice way to soften the tax blow when you’re just starting out in your career and your budget is often squeezed between low pay and student loans. Although, I am gasping for air at the cost with the current exchange rate to US$.“I’ve seen cases with my clients who’ve gone through medical school where they wind up paying little or no tax for up to three years after graduation,” said Loren. Looks like I will join as Loopback Audio user. Sound Siphon allowed the mixing of various input devices for recording, however I was unable to get it to work on the output side and isolate the audio to be only audio output from Isadora. Black Hole does not offer an interface and there was no way to separate the output and isolate the audio out from Isadora. Dante Via looked really good, however it has not been released for OSX10.15 yet as far as I could see and I was unable to locate even a trial version with compatibility. ![]() There were really only two options for achieving this in the tested software: 1/ Black Hole, and 2/ Loopback Audio. SoundCloud and routing that as a live input within Isadora where additional manipulation of the live audio could be undertaken before sending audio to an output device. The criteria used was a fairly straight forward task. Only one solution provided the raw routing flexibility to be effective with Isadora and OSX 10.15.x in the most use cases. ![]() I have looked into the four audio software solutions that have been suggested previously in the thread. I just want to update this thread with some findings. Thanks for your advice, much appreciated. So there may be no additional advantage with implementing both simultaneously. Dante Via and Audio Siphon also look like they are worth a try out- they are certainly substantially less expensive than Loopback. But it looks like this can also be done with more or less ease with either software alone. So for example Black Hole could be used to route an audio stream into Isadora live capture / frequency analysis e.g Soundcloud and Loopback provides a visual interface to manage multiple discrete outputs such as zoom and headphones. I just made the observation after installing Black Hole that it appears in a list of selectable nodes in the Loopback interface. Possibly nothing - I am just working through as many scenarios as I can think of to test audio device routing and arrive at a final software investment. Kind said: I am wondering what the combination of blackhole and loopback give you that cannot be done with loopback alone. Specifically when using the Input/ Live Capture Settings/ Sound Input and Sound Frequency Analysis.īefore I commit to anything long term, I thought there might be another Isadora user who has found an alternative solution to audio device routing in MacOS 10.15? What I found is that the combination of both Black Hole and Loopback provided a great level of flexibility in routing audio through Isadora and to targeted outputs. I also installed a trial version of the Loopback software, it is expensive at $110 US and I haven't committed to it yet, but provides a simple and intelligent routing interface that makes every audio IO routing possibility into an immediate visual representation. This is described as a Soundflower alternative although it has some quirks associated with setting up a Multi-Output Device in Mac Audio Devices. Reading the documentation is essential to using it successfully. I have installed the free Black Hole software from existential audio. I am starting with audio routing and currently looking at alternatives for Soundflower audio device routing in Mac OS Catalina. La fida Ninfa (1732), was written while Vivaldi was in Verona, with a libretto by Scipione Maffei. Vivaldi also composed his opera Semimmide, which went on to debut in 1731. Vivaldi wrote the Farnace in 1727, which was an opera. Among his numerous works include La Cetra (1727), a collection of twelve violin concertos. He also wrote three operas in Rome for the 17 carnivals. ![]() In fact, another monarch, Emperor Charles VI, was so impressed by Vivaldi’s talented approach to what he did, that the latter was declared a knight. La Gloria e Imeneo was a cantata created with King Louis XV’s wedding celebrations in mind. Here, Vivaldi ably broken traditions by turning a descriptive music into an identifiable Italian musical style, noted for the unmistakable timbre and the significant role of the strings. This is a perfect example of a program music, a compositional style complete with a narrative technique. The publication took place along with Il cimento dell’armonia e dell’inventione, which is a collection of eight violin concerti, in addition to The Four Seasons. Published in 1725, in Amsterdam, this piece amply demonstrates the master’s skill with musical composition, along with an uncanny skill of predicting the Romantic musical style. Subsequent to this, he finished his ultimate masterpiece, The Four Seasons or Le quattro stagioni, in 1721. Additionally, Opuses IV, V, VI, and VII were composed during the 1712-1717 period and were sets of concerti or sonatas. La costanza trionfante degl'amori e de gl'odii (1716) was and still is one of Vivaldi’s most recognizable work and has been widely performed. In 1716, he was made the Maestro De' Concerti in Ospedale della Pietà, and wrote Juditha Triumphans, an oratorio, that same year. He got to make the acquaintance of both Domenico Scarlatti and George Frideric Handel in Venice. III, which was a collection of 12 concerti for violin and string. Going forward, in 1711, Vivaldi was responsible for the L'estro armonico, Op. The following years, he remained busy with the publication of his trio sonatas in 1705 and the violin sonatas in 1709. His immense talents with the instrument deservedly saw him become the violin master at the convent, Ospedale della Pietà in 1703. Vivaldi was nicknamed Il Prete Rosso due to his rich volume of red hair, and he joined the San Marco Basilica himself, as a violinist in 1696. It can be safely assumed that his musical genesis began under his father, Giovanni Battista, a violinist at the orchestra of Venice’s San Marco Basilica. His operas Argippo (1730) and Bajazet (1735) are some of the most respected pieces of his time. With every work, his admirers and enthusiasts increased and they regarded him as a master of both form and pattern. But he found his inner calling in music and recognized that as both his passion and career. “Perhaps you’ve suddenly had the image of pushing someone off a train platform, kicking a dog, yelling in church, jumping out of a moving car, or stabbing someone you love” (Reese, 2011). She also gives a few other examples of intrusive thoughts that you may have had once or twice: She had no wishes to harm her child, and felt terrified at this thought! Reese describes one of her own intrusive and alarming thoughts: when her son was a baby, she couldn’t stand at the top of her stairs without getting an image of dropping her son and seeing him get hurt. Read on to learn more about intrusive thoughts, how they relate to each of these disorders, and what you can do about it.Įxamples of Intrusive Thoughts: About Death, In Relationships, During Climax, and Violent in Natureĭr. If you feel you have more intrusive thoughts than normal or that you often dwell on these thoughts, you may be suffering from one of these disorders. They can also be a symptom of depression, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Bipolar Disorder, or Attention Deficit-Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). The two most common diagnoses associated with intrusive thoughts are anxiety and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD). However, if you find yourself dealing with unwanted, violent, disturbing, or bizarre thoughts on a regular basis, you may be dealing with a serious mental health issue. When we have a healthy, neurotypical brain and a good grasp on how to monitor our own thoughts and allow them to pass right on by, intrusive thoughts are nothing more than a blip on our radar. If I tell you NOT to think about a purple elephant-you can think about anything else in the world, but do not let the image of a purple elephant come into your mind-how long do you think you can last before an image of a purple elephant pops into your head? For most people, it’s not very long before they succumb to the image they have been instructed not to see. The more we try not to think of something, the more we end up thinking of it. Sally Winston have a particularly interesting way of describing what they believe causes unwanted and intrusive thoughts: Why? Good question!Īnxiety and intrusive thought experts Dr. Hannah Reese (2011) posits that perhaps these thoughts manifest because we do not want to act in that way in other words, although we would never actually consider doing some of the things we think about, our brain just spits out one of the most inappropriate things it can imagine. However, instead of the problem staying politely buried, it finds other ways to work its way up to the surface.ĭr. Perhaps they are struggling with relationship problems, stress at work, or frustration with parenting and trying to keep it from bubbling over. Psychologist Lynn Somerstein (2016) suggests that perhaps recurring or frequent intrusive thoughts are a sign that there is something difficult or something going wrong in a person’s life. We’re not really sure why intrusive thoughts suddenly pop into our heads, but some psychologists have theories. In addition to elevating the pharynx during swallowing, as it contracts, the palatopharyngeal arches are pulled medially. The palatopharyngeus muscle originates from the palatine aponeurosis and inserts into the posterior surface of the thyroid cartilage. It helps elevate the pharynx during swallowing. The stylopharyngeus muscle has its origin from the styloid process of the temporal bone and inserts into the posterior surface of the thyroid cartilage of the larynx. It contributes to preventing the pharyngeal reflux of the contents of the esophagus. The cricopharyngeus muscle originates from the lowest portion of the inferior constrictor muscle and acts as a sphincter at the inferior terminus of the pharynx. It inserts into the pharyngeal raphe and propels bolus downward. The inferior constrictor muscle originates from the lamina of the thyroid cartilage and the cricoid cartilage of the larynx. It inserts into the pharyngeal raphe and serves to propel bolus downward. ![]() The middle constrictor muscle originates from the inferior portion of the stylohyoid ligament and the lesser and greater cornua of the hyoid bone. It aids in the closure of the soft palate during swallowing and most importantly is that it propels bolus toward downward. The superior constrictor muscle originates from the medial pterygoid plate, pterygoid hamulus, pterygomandibular ligament and mylohyoid line of the mandible. The musculature of the pharynx is extremely crucial for the pharynx to fulfill its various normal and necessary functions. Muscles of the pharynx, as has been noted earlier, can be described as four constrictor muscles (superior, middle, inferior and cricopharyngeus) and three muscles of the longitudinal group (stylopharyngeus, palatopharyngeus, and salpingopharyngeus). Inferiorly, the ring forms by the lingual tonsils on the posterior surface of the tongue. The palatine tonsils and tubal tonsils (around the auditory tubes) form the lateral wall of the ring. It is formed superiorly by the pharyngeal tonsils, also known as adenoids, in the roof of the nasal pharynx. This ring protects the entrance of the GIT and the respiratory tract. There is a ring of lymphoid tissue that is formed by four lymph groups, referred to as the Waldeyer ring. The deep cervical lymph nodes are the groups of lymph nodes located along the course of the internal jaguar vein or indirect drainage toward the deep cervical lymph nodes via the retropharyngeal lymph nodes (located behind the pharynx) or paratracheal lymph nodes (alongside the course of the trachea). Venous drainage is formed by the pharyngeal veins which drain the pharynx into the internal jugular vein. The lymphatic drainage of the pharynx is direct drainage, which means that lymph passes directly toward the deep cervical lymph nodes (DCLNs). ![]() įour arteries from each external carotid artery supply the pharynx with oxygen-rich blood which is the ascending pharyngeal, tonsilar (a branch of the facial artery), maxillary and lingual arteries. Air passes from the upper two parts of the pharynx (nasal and oral) and enters the laryngeal pharynx toward the inlet of the larynx and from there to trachea down the respiratory tract. ![]() Simultaneously, the epiglottis (single cartilage at the upper part of the larynx) is pushed anteriorly to close the laryngeal inlet preventing food from entering the airways. Lastly, the laryngeal pharynx receives bolus from the oral pharynx and passes it into the esophagus for digestion. These tubes are connected to the middle ears (tympanic cavities) posteriorly and mainly serve to equalize pressure and facilitate the drainage of the secretions of the middle ears. Second, the oral pharynx is a continuation of the oral cavity and functions to pass the bolus toward the laryngeal pharynx below.Īs the bolus passes from the oral cavity, the muscles of the soft palate contract to close the choanae so that food does not enter the nasal cavity. Also, within the lateral surface of the back of the nasopharynx, there are two openings, one on either side, which is called the auditory tubes (Eustachian tubes or pharyngotympanic tubes) surrounded by elevations of mucous membrane called tubal elevations. Regionally, the pharynx divides into three parts which are from superior to inferior:-the nasal pharynx, located behind the posterior nasal apertures (choanae), the oral pharynx, located behind the opening of the oral cavity, and the laryngeal pharynx, located behind the inlet (opening) of the larynx. First, the nasal pharynx is only related to the respiratory tract as air passes through it from the nasal cavities. |
